Sažetak
Spray drying is the most facile method for the preparation of high quality powders. Spray drying has recently been applied to synthesize many multi-metal oxide catalysts that are used in fluidized bed reactors. Catalysts prepared by means of spray drying of the solution possess different properties compared to catalysts obtained by conventional methods (eg precipitation method). Careful selection of operating conditions can affect the granulometric, morphological and physical properties of the obtained powders. Consequently, the activity and selectivity of the catalyst can be changed. The greatest advantages of the method lie in the significant shortening of preparation time (does not require subsequent mechanical processing (milling)) and uniformity of the essential properties of catalysts. Bismuth molybdates (Bi203n MoO, where n = 1, 2, 3) exists in three phases depending on the Bi/Mo ratio (, and ). Bismuth molybdate pure phases and their mixtures are well known for its good catalytic activity for selective oxidation of light hydrocarbons (olefins) into unsaturated aldehydes. They are also used for oxidation of hydrogen sulfide to elemental sulfur and carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. All three phases of bismuth molybdates were prepared by spray drying at different drying air temperatures. Also, the influence of different feed flow rates and atomization air flow rates has been investigated for the -phase. The obtained powders were characterized by means of X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Particle and pore size distribution as well as the BET surface area and the average particle and pore size were also determined. Differtnt operating conditions influence the granulometric properties of obtained powders and possibly their catalityc activity.
