Sažetak
Economic and political development in Yugoslavia and the post - Yugoslav nation- states is described in terms of cycles of power. The political elites perpetuate their positions by different means of self- legitimation as well as through control and mobilization mechanisms. Nationalism is interpreted as the most reliable stronghold for the power elites in response to modern international economic and military - political development.
