Sažetak
Tripterygium regelii (Celastraceae) is a shrubby deciduous vine native to Korea and Japan. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat fever, chills and edema. T. regelii extracts are rich in natural products, mostly terpenoids, with diverse biological activities. Diterpene triptolide accumulates in the roots of the plant, exerts antiinflammatory and immunosupressive activities and has been subjected to clinical trials against rheumatoid arthritis. Recent research shows it is also a potent anticancer agent, due to confirmed induction of apoptosis of pancreatic cancer cells and a reduction in the number of metasthases. T. regelii plants have been extensively exploited in China. The aim of present study was to develop a method for in vitro propagation of T. regelii plants and induction of callus, with the hope of identifying callus lines that produce triptolide. Optimized extraction and analysis protocols were developed for triptolide on an LC-IonTrap-MS system.
