Sažetak
In order to evaluate findings in vertebral arteries we studied 80 consecutive inpatients with the symtomatology of vertebrobasilar ischaemic disease by means of color Doppler and Transcranial Doppler. The vertebrobasilar disease in the patients was characterised by abrupt duration and polymorphism of symptoms. In the dignosis, radilogical examination of cervical vertebry column, Dopller sonography brain computerised tomography (CT) and electrocardiogrphy were used. Risk factors for ischemic disease were also analysed. CDFI of carotid and vertebral arteries was performed by Acuson 128 XP. There were 74 % female and 26 % male patients. Age range 23-85. The most frequent subjective symptoms were dizziness, nausea, general weakness and falling in one direction. More tha 40 patients had hypertension, diabetes mellitus was found in one case. The lipidogram was abnormal in 17 patients. ECG was abnormal in 15 %. CT findings were: normal findings 69 %, cortical trophy 19 %, lacune 4 % and 2 % had ischemic changes. CDFI revealed vertebral artery occlusion 10 % and hypoplastic vertebral artery 26 %. The rest of patients had the signs of diminished perfusion, and some of the had normal perfusion. CDFI of vertebral arteries is important method in estimation of its pathology (hypoplasia, occlusion).
