Sažetak
Background: Last few years the number of patients suffering from acute and chronic pancreatitis has increased as well as its complications. One of the most common local complication is developing of the pseudocyst of pancreatis.
Methods: At Department of gastroenterology Clinical Hospital "Merkur" in Zagreb, during five years 86 patients suffered from pseudocyst pancreatis and 28 (33%) of them developed pseudocyst during acute pancreatitis. 58 (67%) patients developed pseudocyst during chronic pancreatitis. Diagnosis of pseudocyst and pancreatitis was made on clinical basis and ultrasound findings. During hospitalisation pseudocysts have disappeared in 22 (26%) patients, 4 (5%) patients with chronic pancreatitis and 18 (20%) patients with acute pancreatitis. In patients with persistent pseudocyst (more than 6 weeks) we made evacuation of the pseudocyst under ultrasound control with fine needle. The aspirates were analysed immediately by Gram stain and later by culture.
Results: In 50 (58%) patients the pseudocysts were evacuated and recovered completely. In 14 (16%) patients the pseudocysts filled again immediately after evacuation. In this cases we continated with repeated evacuations under ultrasound control. In 6 (7%) cases we didn't achieve the remission and patients had undergone surgical treatment. Two of them died (2%).
Conclusion: According to our results in evacuation of pseudocysts under ultrasound control, the most of our patients had excellent therapeutically effect with acceptable risk. Minimal number of our patients were sent to surgical treatment and the risk of complications was reduced.
