Sažetak
There is a general agreement that the novel antipsychotics, as a class, have much better overall tolerability than typical antipsichotics, durting acute and long-term treatment. However there are few side-effects, wich have greater clinical relevance, and they do not appear equal for the whole group. That includes significant weight gain with clozapine and olanzapine, elevation in serum triglycerides with clozapine, olanzapine and quetiapine, prolongation of QTC with ziprasidone and problems with glucose-insuline homeostasis with clozapine and olanzapine. Risperidone may induce dose-related hyperprolactinaemia, wich may be associated with clinical symptoms such as decresed libido, amenorrhea and galactorrhea in females or erectile dysfunctions and gynaecomastia in men. The clinician should pay attention to all these side-effects during the treatment of patients with psychosis.
