Sažetak
On the basis of Croatia's Psychiatric Case Register (CPCR) with the aim of clinical epidemiologic follow-up a representative sample of schizophrenics was made in 1972. The sample included 402 schizophrenics who were followed up until 1991. A group of 59 (14.7%) patients had ICD diagnosis of catatonic schizophrenia (V/295.2), once or several times in their life. Among these patients there were 28 males and 31 females. Another group comprised 343 schizophrenics, who never in their life had catatonic symptoms. Both groups were compared, and it was found that aggressive behavior as a reason for the first hospitalization was more often in the catatonic group. Catatonics also expressed more aggressiveness during their illness than other group of schizophrenics.
