Sažetak
In a random sample (N = 226) of a follow--up study (1969— 1989) within the framework of an investigation on frequent chronic diseases, the frequency of arthrosis was examined. Response rate of the mail addressed subjects was 52%, (M : F = 44% : 56%). The average age of the subjects was 64.8 ± 5.4 years. Subjects were clinically examined and arthrotic changes were graded from 1 to 6. Without gonarthrosis was 59% of M and 53% of F. Suspect arthrosis of the knee (grade 2) was found in 18% of M and 25% of the F while moderate arthrosis (grade 3) was diagnosed in 17% of M and 15% of F. Serious gonarthrosis (grade 4) was diagnosed in 4% of M and 4% of F. The difference between males and females with regard to the occurence of gonarthrosis at this age, tested by means of proportion, was not statistically significant (t = 0.18). Relative body weight (measured/anticipated X 100) was 117 ± 13%. Other risk factors for the occurence of gonarthrosis and the use of Bayes' theory in the diagnostics of gonarthrosis is discussed.
