Sažetak
The pharmacotherapy of schizophrenic patients has been administrated for almost half of century. during that period many substances have been synthesized , that have turned out to be very effective in treatment. During the last ten years some so called new antipsychotics have come into use. With this more different schools or approaches have been developed. With the aim of improving the education of professionals, concidering the optimal choice of antipsychotics, many professional associations have made the algorithms for psychopharmacotherapy of schizophrenic patients. During the creation of our own algorithm, together with our own findings and experience, we have used all accessible literature about the algorithms of foreign professional associations and schools, the comparisons between published papers about efficacy, safety of antipsychotics and compliance, the epidemiological data describing the domestic populationconcidering the therapy responses to different antipsychotics, pharmacoeconomic data of our own and foreign authors and finally the accessibility of each psychofarmac on our market. The results of our efforts to make the optimal "Croatian algorithm" are showed reffering to the phase of illness of schizophrenic patient, age, health condition, compliance, therapeutical respons and side-effects. The limiting factor is inaccessibility of many antipsychotics on our market, non-existent depot substances among the new antipsychotics, and also the price of some antipsychotics. In collaboration with Croatian association for clinical psychiatry by The Croatian Medical association and the Ministry of health of the Republic Croatia the experts have made the Croatian algorithm for psychopharmacotherapy of schizophrenic patients that is transparent to the known algorithms with the aknowledegments of domestic professional practice and possibilities. The algorith, m sholud be concidered as the dynamic guide, that will be contonuously changed according to the developement of scientific psychiatry and clinical practice.
