Sažetak
In this work electrochemical aspects of corrosion of some AlMg alloys as well as tin and tinplate, in organic acid (acetic, citric, malic, oxalic) solutions were investigated. Salt solutions and some fruit juices (apple juice, blackberry juice) are also used as corrosive media. Steady state potential of tin, tinplate, steel (as ground material for tinplate)and AlMg alloys was measured in dependence on time. Polarization of tin, tinplate, steel and AlMg alloys was also performed. The results of polarization measurements show that corrosion current is directly connected with stability constants of ligands of organic acids and tin or aluminium ; corrosion current becomes higher as stability constant of these complexes increases. This indicates that corrosion process of tin, tinplate and aluminum in these media was controlled by reactions of formation of tin or aluminium-complexes. The investigation also show that AlMg alloys have better corrosion resistance in comparison to tinplate or tin. Therefore, AlMg alloys are very good packaging material (better than tinplate) for packaging different foods.
