Sažetak
The aim of the study on regional level is to make a quality database of all relevant olive production stakeholders and to regulate measures which will ensure an undertaking of necessary activities and properly distribution of resources for this sector development. Within a study it was made an analysis of olive production and olive oil value chain sector for the purpose of finding the critical points by which is necessary to direct additional programs and political measures with an aim of insurance the long term competitiveness and income security of this sector. Olive production economical analysis and olive mill management are performed by cost-benefit method whereat as inputs are used data collected by interviewing olive producers, respectively olive mill owners. At the region area it has totally 6.000 ha olive orchards with about 1, 37 million olive trees. About 8.500 farms are employed in olive production. In 2009 it was totally produced about 9.000 tons of olive fruit, respectively 1.150 tons of olive oil. Olive oil processing at region area is done in 28 olive mills of which 19 are situated in Istria and 9 at Primorje. Their total processing capacities is about 29 tons of olive fruit per hour. Olive seedlings production is carried out in 4 registered plant nurseries ; three are situated in Rovinj and one in Pula. Olive seedlings production was continuously increased in last 10 years from 11.700 seedlings in 1999 to 37.985 in 2008. In 2009 year production was decreased to 27.750 seedlings what is less than 25% of necessities. In olive production development qualitatively purpose at next period is necessary to insist on high quality level of products and market control with a view to reduction of unfair competition, to manage a process of evidence and registration on larger autochthonous olive varieties number, increase a nursery production especially autochthonous varieties, to promote olive oil consumption on domestic market, to stimulate an establishment of Centers for olive production development, to develop an institutions for trade (auctions), continuously perform an education, training and informing producers and administrative structures in olive growing field about main concepts of Corporative EU market organization for fruit growing field (producers associations, marketing standards, olive market institutions etc.).
