Sažetak
Knowledge of composition of the mosquito’s population on some area has great significance for further researching and mosquito control on that particular area. Within three years (2006 – 2008) we have been conducting a research of mosquito community composition in County of Vukovar-srijem, in eastern Croatia. Mosquitoes were collected using CDC traps baited with dry ice (CO2) once a month from May to September. CDC traps were placed in the evening to remain over night on six different localities in the County area. During this research there was an obvious difference between years 2006 and 2007 in the amount of precipitation over summer and that difference directly affected the number and composition of mosquito’s community. As opposed to 2006, 2007 was very dry which for outcome had a great decrease in number of mosquitoes, and as well reduced number of species. In 2006, a total of 1175 adult female mosquitoes of 14 species were collected, where species Aedes vexans and Ochlerotatus sticticus (flood water mosquitoes) constituted 63% of all collected specimens, while in 2007, a total of 175 adult female mosquitoes of 6 species were collected and share of Ae. vexans and Oc. sticticus was only 4%. Dominant species in 2007 was Culex pipines (urban species) with 93% share in collected specimens.
