Sažetak
The paper deals with the evolution of mobile networks towards 3G all-IP networks. The reason for changes in the network are analyzed, expectations and the challenges mobile networks are facing today are reviewed. The new generation network architecture and its elements are discussed as prerequisites for high-quality wireless multimedia services. Network evolution scenarios supporting the protection of earlier investments in telecom networks are presented. Special emphasis is put on new multimedia services and applications development supporting the new era of communications and information technology that is characterized by the convergence of communications, information and media industry.
