Sažetak
Owing to its favorable climate conditions, Croatia has significant potential for biodiesel production from rapeseed oil. Biodiesel, as well as other biofuels, is considered as one of the most valuable forms of renewable energy because of its multiple use. Production and use of biodiesel is not rare and unknown in developed countries and it is also considered in the recently publiched "Draft Energy Strategy" of Croatia. Apart from an indirect positive contribution, such as investment in undeveloped areas and agriculture or positive energy and greenhouse gases balance, preliminary analyses show that biodiesel production in Croatia could also be economically justified. This paper deals with the most important aspects of biodiesel production in Croatia such as energy potential and possible production, agricultural and economic factors, environmental aspects and examples crom countries similar to Croatia.
