Sažetak
The occurrence of phenolics (total phenols-TPC, flavonoids-TF, non-flavonoids-TNF), total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and antimicrobial activity (AMA) in ethanol and acetone extracts of dry lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) from 4 different region of Croatia (Vižinada-Istra, Fužine, Hvar, Donja Bistra) were investigated. Phenolic compounds were measured by spectrophotometric methods, total antioxidant capacity was determined using DPPH and FRAP assays, while the antimicrobial effect (of extracts and essential oils) was conducted on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria’s. All extracts (ethanol and acetone) contained high mass fraction of TPC, and TNF, and lower mass fraction of TF. Among researched dry lavender, dry lavender from Hvar contained higher amounts of all groups of phenolics, followed by dry lavender from Istra>Fužine>Donja Bistra. The soil and climate conditions remarkable influenced on mass fraction of phenolic compounds of lavender, and in total phenols non-flavonoids were predominant. Examined extracts possess high TAC and AMA, and all phenolics were highly correlated with TAC. Lavender from coastal region (Hvar, Istra) of Croatia contained higher amounts of phenolic compounds ; had higher TAC and antimicrobial activity. Essential oil had remarkable antimicrobial activity, even remarkable higher compare to lavender's extracts.
