Sažetak
The increased amount of work and leisure, profit and non-profit oriented activities taking part in networked societies offer the capacity for political control much more distopic than Orvell's imagined totalitarian state control of the (sixteen years ago) 1984's world. By digitalizing already existing data and with the producing new data in digital environments we're all creating resources that can be misused against our (worker, citizen, consumer, cultural, religious, etc) interests. But with this everyday practices we also create increasing amount of now measurable manifestations turning them into indicators about the systems we use to manage resources. By identifying the core systems and enabling the interconnection between them the data becomes information. Therefore, by understanding the model patterns and likely outcomes of behavior/action informed decision making is possible. Ever pervasive information and communication technologies offer not only the potential for top- down policies implementation (and policing) on one side or individual escapism in virtual synthetic worlds on the other, but also provide new ways of collaboration with roots in local communities and consequences in quality of life and sustainability of this communities. In the world of multilevel governance and possibility to act (or not) on family, local, national, regional and even global scale are the e-city platforms the most promising level of citizen collaboration needed for sustainable prosperity?
