Sažetak
Flora of the mediolittoral zone of the Peškera Cove in Poreč (Istria) was investigated in April, June and August of 2008. Algal material was collected and herbarized in order to determine the species and describe their morphological features. A total of 29 macroalgal species (1 species of Cyanobacteria, 6 species of Chlorophyta, 11 of Chrysophyta and 11 species of Rhodophyta) were detected during the investigated period. Among them Fucus virsoides J. Agardh., an endemic species of the Adriatic Sea was recorded. This brown alga is distributed on rocky shores and is well developed in the northern part of the Adriatic. During the investigated period, the number of detected species increased together with the increasing sea temperature. Therefore, the lowest number of macroalgal species was recorded in April (9 species) and the highest in August (29 species) when the sea temperature was optimal for the development of the most algal species in the mediolittoral zone. By comparing these findings with the list of species found in the Punta Corrente Cove in Rovinj, some differences in their algal communities are evident. For that reason, it would be good to add the Peškera Cove as another interesting site for the future field research for students of biology.
