Sažetak
The study of floods and droughts requires the analysis of the characteristics of wet and dry day sequences. Very long sequencies have more practical importance than short ones and there are various statistical models that give estimates on probability of very long wet-dry sequencies. In this work the Discrete Autoregressive Moving Average model (DARMA(1, 1)) is used to describe the wet-dry day sequences over the Drava upstream in the north-west part of Croatia. The daily precipitation data from the meteorological stations Varaždin (1949-2000) and Legrad (1961-2000) are used. Due to a great importance of the persistence of dry and wet spells in climate studies the annual course of coefficient of persistency is discussed.
