Sažetak
In my short presentation, I would like to introduce you into the numerical modelling with the use of COSMOSM software package, which I have been dealing with for more than fifteen years. All of COSMOSM modelling examples I will show you in my presentation today are my projects. This is a small part of the structures I have designed with the use of COSMOSM, more than 150 until now. In recent years, I have been working at the Faculty of Architecture University of Zagreb as a teacher in the subject of Bearing Structures with an emphasis on Technical Mechanics and education of students in the newest data concerning various loads and forces in our 3D environment, and the status of stresses and deformations in structures, stability, etc. Before that, I worked for 26 years at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the same University, primarily dealing with timber structures. Therefore, my current presentation is with an emphasis on calculation and modelling of timber structures. Timber structures are specific as timber is an orthotropic material and the standard software used in the structural calculations some twenty years ago for the most part wasn’t focused on the possibility of taking various material features in 3 mutually perpendicular directions, which is not the case today. COSMOSM had the orthotropic modelling option as early as 1992, when we used it to start the first modelling of timber structures.
