Sažetak
The issue of water consumption has been gaining importance for quite a time. Textile printing is a process which significantly contributes to water pollution, and its future development is no minor way defined by the choice of dyes, additives and technological processes, all with the aim to satisfy strict environmental requirements. Investigations presented in this paper are aimed at the proper choice of thickeners, additives and manners of setting, having primarily in mind dyestuff washing out and efficiency. Printings have been performed using C.I.Reactive Red 31 reactive dye, with Na-alginate thickeners, separately and in combination with emulsion thickeners (2:1). Samples printed have been steam set (102o C for 10 min.) and hot-air set (210o C for 60 sec.). The impact of the type and quantity of the alkali used (Na2CO3 and NaHCO3 10 and 30 g/kg respectively) on printed sample washing out and degree of reactive dye fixation has been investigated. Microscopic prints of polymeric films have been made in advance, showing the influence of the additives used on the morphological structure of film. Migration of dyestuff from the films on the textile substrate has been investigated, together with polymers film water adsorption on the textile substrate (cotton fabric), before setting. It can be seen that, for the steam set samples, washing out is related to the film adsorptivity. For the samples treated with hot air, washing out dose not depend upon adsorptivity.
