Sažetak
Operational analysis and forecast data from ECMWF have been used to calculate budgets of available potential and kinetic energy. The best estimate of atmospheric energetics can be gained by using 6 or 12 hour forecast data. The choice of data source is most important for calculating baroclinic conversions which also influences estimates of generation and dissipation by diabatic processes from residuals.
