Sažetak
The first eight months of 1999 in 415 Croatian tourist resorts have realised 3,896,647 tourist arrivals and 22,844,782 overnights. Half of these have been achieved in only 20 leading tourist resorts, or 1,930,688 arrivals and 11,581,410 overnights. All top destinations are situated at the Adriatic coast, with the exception of the continental capital, City of Zagreb. Mostly they are situated on the Northern Adriatic: 10 in Istria (Umag, Katoro, Novigrad, Tar, Poreč, Vrsar, Rovinj, Pula, Medulin, Rabac) and 7 in the Kvarner region (Opatija, Krk, Punat, Baška, Selce, Mali Lošinj, Lopar), but 2 are on the South (Baška Voda and Dubrovnik). The top leading Croatian tourist resorts are Poreč, Rovinj and Vrsar. In Croatia dominates international tourism, with 4/5 of overnights (80%), and its share in 20 top tourist destinations is even higher (88%). Among foreign guests in Croatia dominate tourists from Slovenia, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy and Austria (14.3 mn nights or 63% of total nights). Such segmentation, limited to only five markets are even more evident in leading resorts (8.2 mn nights or 71% of total nights in 20 resorts). It can be noticed that 1/3 of total tourist overnights in Croatia is realised in 20 tourist resorts, by five emitive markets only. Seasonal distribution is typical for Croatian tourism, so that, starting from the beginning of the year till September, usually 7/8 (87%) of tourist overnights have already been realised, and in two summer months 67%. This year only in July and August 17.7 mn overnights have been realised (81% of total till now in 1999), and 8.5 mn overnights in 20 top resorts. Mostly tourists stay in hotels (7.4 mn or 32%) and in camps (7 mn or 31%), which are followed by private rooms (4.3 mn or 19%) and holiday dwellings (2.7 mn or 12%). In these 4 types of accommodation 95% of total Croatian overnights have been realised. These 4 types have also been chosen in 20 top tourist resorts (11.2 mn nights), where tourists prefer camps (4.4 mn), hotels (4 mn) and tourist dwelling (1.5 mn), and in the less degree private rooms (1.2 mn). Share of overnights in camps is greater (63%) and in private rooms smaller (28%) than total overnights realised in the respective types of accommodation concerning Croatia.
