Sažetak
The phytoplankton community of the Čakovec reservoir (hydroelectric power plant on the Drava River) was investigated during 1998. The purpose was to establish the composition, floral similarity, and seasonal distribution of phytoplankton, as well as the saprobity degree of water on investigated profiles. During the investigations the total number of 80 algal taxa was recorded with Diatoms as the dominant group. The total number of cells ranged between 3.6 and 25.8 x 10'/1. The phytoplankton minimum was observed at all profiles during winter, while the maximal number of algae occurred in au- tumn. The most frequent species were Asterionella formosa HASS., Fragilaria crotonen- sis KITT., and Melosira varians AG. The index of similarity ranged between 72.8% and 85.2%. The index of saprobity, based on indicator species found in the phytoplankton community, varied from 1.9 to 2.2.
