Sažetak
As a part of a research focusing on how people respond to and evaluate the sounds of hand-held power tools, a computer application has been written for synthesis of sounds of such tools. The test subjects were asked to synthesize the sound of a power drill using this application according to their own ideas on how such a tool should sound. Three groups of test subjects were formed according to the initial values of parameters included in the application. The first group of subjects starts the task with moderate values of these parameters, while the second and the third group of subjects start with extreme values. The synthesized sounds are analyzed in order to obtain single-number parameters describing these sounds. The chosen sets of values of parameters included in the application are also analyzed. The final step is the inter-groupwise examination of possible differences in the character of synthesized sounds that may result from differences in initial conditions set in the synthesis application.
