Sažetak
Person perception and language are closely related, which is best reflected in everyday communication. There are numerous factors on which this relation resides. In this study, we aim at investigating whether the use of anglicisms is related to the perception of a person's characteristics. Furthermore, if such connection exists, is it, and to what degree dependent on age and gender. For the purpose of the study, we divided a total of 240 participants into three age groups (each group counting approximately the same number of participants): elementary school students aged 11-12 years, high school students aged 15-16, and university students aged 19-20 years. Each age group was randomly divided into three subgroups instructed to read one of three versions of the same text, varying only in the frequency of anglicisms used (high frequency, medium frequency, no anglicisms). Participants were then asked to assess personal characteristics of the supposed author of the text by filling in a questionnaire that was handed out to them. The data obtained is analyzed by two-way analyses of variance.
