Sažetak
The investigations of the La Tène culture sites in northern Croatia conducted so far, coupled with the many chance finds collected from the end of the 19th cent., enabled archaeologists to determine the basic features of the material heritage of the Scordisci and Taurisci, as well as the chronological sequence of their development, which corresponds to the central European developmental sequence of the La Tène culture. Many insights into the settlement infrastructure have been gained, while the investigations of cemeteries are still in the incipient stages. In the previous research on the La Tène culture in northern Croatia the least attention was awarded to the finds pertaining to the performance of various cult activities, since until very recently such finds had been completely unknown. However, as salvage investigations and field surveys have increased in recent years, sites were discovered that are believed to have been connected with various ritual activities. The results of salvage investigations in Osijek in eastern Slavonia are particularly important, as the excavations yielded a number of finds that can be connected with the ritual activities of the Scordisci. Other sites, that is finds of helmets of the eastern Celtic type in the Sava river, are likewise assumed to represent evidence of cult activities. Single finds that, however, cannot be attributed with certainty to ritual activities, are known also from investigations of settlements and from rivers.
