Sažetak
We will present results that illustrate how the judicious choice of the pulse repetition frequency and the offset frequency of the frequency comb can provide means to manipulate the atomic velocity distributions in multilevel atoms. The effective control of the degree of coherence between the ground state hyperfine levels can also be achieved in this way for selective velocity groups of atoms. Moreover, transfer of the complete atomic distributions to the dark state is possible by adjusting the pulse repetition frequency to be simultaneously a subharmonic of the ground state hyperfine splitting and (close to) a subharmonic of the excited state hyperfine splitting.
