Sažetak
The paper describes a model which illustrates the benefits of implementation of modelling and simulation for research and educational purposes. The model for the analysis of transient conditions of a diesel generator unit feeding induction motors has been developed. The unique mathematical model of integral motor drives consists of: a diesel engine, a synchronous generator and two non-regulated motor drives fed directly from generator unit terminals. It is interesting in case of small, often isolated electric power systems such as, for example, marine and offshore power systems. The model has been used in the education of students at the University of Dubrovnik, at academic programs such as Marine Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies as well as Marine Engineering.
