Sažetak
This paper considered particular provisions which deal with child violence within the famioly. the Family Act 1997 should probably be seen as a first and basic step in reacting to family problems. The Act makes clear its orientation and preference towards a child-centered approach and the protection of the child's best interests. The point is that Croatian family law has been profoundly modernized and in response to international legal standards, in an effort to catch different kinds of negative behaviour towards a child.
The addition of legal measures, particularly those of the family law, will ensure the legal opportunity to register society's reaction to family vviolence against a child. But, there are two main factors which could reduce family violence. First, children need to become aware of their rights, including the right not to be subjected to violence. Second, the social acceptance or tolerance of violence (between adults, but particularly against children) should be exterminated.
