Sažetak
Nutrient benthic fluxes, as well as sediment phosphorus concentration at the open sea and coastal water stations of the Central and South Adriatic were studied during 1997-98. The fluxes were oin the range of 0.16 to 2.66 mmol-2d-1 (silicate); from -0.031 to0.215 mmolm-2d-1 (phosphate), and-1.38 to 2.34 mmolm-2d-1 (sum of nitrate, nitrite and ammonia). Silicate flux showed a gradient from the coastal area to the open sea. The relationship between phosphate and silicate fluxes at the open sea stations was established in the warm period of year (R=0.982, p<0.01). A relationship between bentic phosphate flux and sediment inorganic phosphorus concentration was established (R=0.767; p<0.01). Ammonia was the main nitrogen species in the flux at the estuary and bay stations, while the sum of nitrate and nitrite was predominant at the open sea stations.
