Sažetak
The paper discusses the current state-of-the art of the diffusion process of carbide layers formation on steels. Some potential reasons causing rather limited application of the process in industrial practice are indicated. Applying the principles of physical chemistry, mathematical model of the process is set up, and a computer programme for calculating technological parameters is created. The developed duplex process is described, consisting of the carburizing process and formation of carbide layers by diffusion. By such approach, the formation process of carbide layers is accelerated, and the occurrence of decarburization of steel beneath the carburized layer is prevented.
