Sažetak
The impact of fluorescent whitening agents (FWA) and UV absorbers (UVA) in laundering on UV protective properties and whiteness degree changes is investigated, together with the light fastness of the effects achieved. Samples are tested before laundering and after one, three and five washing cycles. FWA and UVA are added separately to the detergent containing perborate and TEAD. Laundering is done at 60 and 90°C. Excellent results are obtained by adding UVA and the mixture of UVA and FWA after three washing cycles already, while very good protective affects are obtained after five washing cycles when FWA are added alone. Approximately equal degree of whiteness is achieved by adding adequate concentrations of UVA and FWA. The UV protection offers excellent light fastness, practically not being changed by exposure, while whiteness degree after exposure to a Xenon lamp light for 60 minutes is slightly decreased. Laundering at 60°C yields the same degree of whiteness as when laundering at 90°C, which is attributed to the addition of TAED to the detergent.
