Sažetak
This work was carried out in order to do research about the effect of low-pressure plasma on wettability properties of cellulosic fabrics. Drop test and contact angle measurements were carried out to analyse hydrophilic properties of textiles. Plasma treatments were carried out using a low-frequency plasma system (40kHz).Oxygen and argon were used as non-polymerising gases, while acrylic acid was applied as a polymerising vapour using Plasma Enchanced Chemical Vapour Deposition (PE-CVD) technique. Single-thread yarn of cotton, lyocell and modal fibers of approximately equally fineness were used with the purpose of obtaining fabrics with similar characteristics to compare the effects of plasma treatments. Raw and scoured cotton fabrics were used in our experiments. Wettability of these fabrics before and after plasma treatments were analysed by Washburn (absorption) method using a tensiometer. Drop test was carried out immediately after plasma treatments and six months later in order to analyse ageing effect on wicking properties of plasma-treated fabrics.
