Sažetak
The sphere packing problem is the fundamental problem of discrete geometry. It considers the packing of sphere of equal volume in euclidean space so that the volume of the sphere is maximized. The solution to this problem is known only up to dimension 3. If one considers lattice packings, i.e. ones for which the spheres are centered at lattice points, then the complete results are known up to dimension 8. An introduction to the proof methods of those results will be done.
