Sažetak
The importance and wide application of aluminium-magnesium alloys in chemical-processing industry and food handling equipment have provided an initiative for examination the possibility of corrosion inhibition of Al-3Mg alloy. Unfortunately, uses of some chemical inhibitors have been limited because of the environmental threat and must be replaced with other non-toxic compounds. The aim of this study is to investigate the inhibition effect of lavender oil on Al-3Mg aluminium alloy corrosion in solution of 3% NaCl. The measurements of corrosion parameters were performed by weight loss and electrochemical methods. The effect of temperature is also reported. The results had shown that lavender oil acts as a good inhibitor for the corrosion of Al-3Mg alloy in sodium chloride solution.
