Today many countries are involved in different regional integrations, what is more, it can be said that there is a fast growing trend of regionalization. The main economic reason behind the participation in this generally accepted trend is the advancement of economic growth. It is considered that free trade and mobility of production factors contribute to faster development and convergence. It is very important for countries to achieve high level of convergence in order to exploit advantages of integrating and conducting a common policy. The process of adjustment has a long term character and therefore, it is of great importance for countries to achieve high and sustainable convergence. This paper analyzes convergence levels towards the EU of two candidate countries: Croatia and Turkey.
