Sažetak
Over the past few years Croatian educational system is facing significant challenges due to process of joining European Union. This includes initiative to reform psychiaty residency training curriculum. In 2005 Croatian Section of Young Psychiatrists and Psychiatry residents has been established and our main goal was to actively participate in this reform. Based on our two studies, we have offered suggestions how to improve training of psychiatry residents. Most of them have been accepted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and included in the new curriculum. Our next goal is to ensure their proper implementation in practice. We believe that reforms inevitably require shifts in attitudes and in our case that would mean from rather and closed system into the system of free migration and dynamic flow of ideas and people. Our experience is that active participation of YPs may be of crucial importance in this process.
