Sažetak
The Internet represents a huge communication universe in which many different activities can be performed simultaneously. Extremely large is the complex of business activities, and, among them, commercial activities. Electronic commerce, usually abbreviated as e-commerce, becomes more popular virtually from day to day. Three major types of e-commerce can be identified: business-to-consumer (B2C), business-to-business (B2B), and business-to-government (B2G) e-commerce. These types of e-commerce are evolving through a kind of a life cycle. But, their life cycles are not synchronised, so that B2C has yet reached the stage of maturity, B2B is maybe approaching these stage, while B2G is still in the initialisation stage. Some people, obviously not familiar enough with a problem, perceived a number of unfavourable processes and events that happened during the year 2000 as “the end” or “crash” of e-commerce as the business concept. Fortunately, there are many evidences that this is not true. Some of such evidences are discussed in the paper, as well as the predictions of the global e-commerce future.
