Sažetak
Today, we are witnessing a growing awareness of our individual and collective responsibility for guarding our planet and preserving its resources. Initiatives concerning these efforts are often called “green initiatives”. Information Technology (IT) takes part in these initiatives becoming “green”, too. There are many reasons why businesses should implement Green IT strategy and they are briefly discussed in the paper. Making IT environmentally friendly requires a big-picture strategy filled with incremental steps, which are also analyzed. Finally, some preliminary results of a survey of Green IT initiatives in Croatia are presented, as well as some suggestions for further actions.
