Sažetak
Rural tourism in Istria has all the predispositions for growing into a very important factor of attractiveness of the tourist destination of the County of Istarska. By a systematic implementation of corresponding activities of defining and repositioning of rural tourism by means of improvement of internal and external farm tourism organisation in the rural tourist market, one of the necessary activities in the creation of a quality tourist destination would be implemented. The research was carried out at the end of the 2008 tourist season on a targeted sample of the farm tourism in Istria. Using survey and interview methods with farm tourism owners, an attempt was made to determine the following: reasons for starting the business, ways of gathering the initial information, selection of own produce at the farm, cooperation with other participants in the rural tourism market, as well as the use of business plans and monitoring of farm tourism business results. The aim of the research was to determine the level of the internal and external farm tourism organisation in the area of rural Istria, for the purposes of creation of the programme of support to the farm tourism owners in overcoming difficulties while setting up and conducting business at the farm tourism venues.
