Sažetak
The incerased number of coastal states of the Adriatic Sea, which resulted from the crisis of the aggressive war and the dissolution of Yugoslavia, gives greater importance to the necessity for cooperation in managing the shared sea area. Because Yugoslavia was a party to numerous treaties devoted to law of the sea topics, its disappearance and the emergence of its successor states on the eastern Adriatic coast bring the subject of succession of states in respect of these treties to the very forefront of interest in the law of the sea. Thus, this article deals with the succession of states with respect of treaties and the topics of the law of the sea: delimitation of maritime areas, fisheries, navigation, and marine environmental protection.
