Sažetak
The present study explored the involvement of signal transduction systems in Met-enkephalin (MENK) modulated superoxide anion release from human neutrophils. This opioid pentapeptide stimulated superoxide anion release in higher concentrations while in lower concentrations the stimulatory concentration is donor depepndent. The MENK degradating product TGG suppressed superoxide anion release in wide range of concentrations. MENK induced superoxide anion release was associated with dose-dependent increase of DAG and PKC. On the contrary suppressive effect of TGG was not associated with alteration of DAG concentration in neutrophiles membranes. We concluded that MENK-induced superoxide anion release results mainly due to DAG/PKC pathway activation, although othe secondary messengers might be involved.
