Sažetak
The paper provides an overview of the current situation and actual processes which rule on the EU energy market that is currently in the process of liberalization, with emphasis on cartelization in the gas sector and abuse of dominant market position. First it gives a brief overview of the basic features of cartels, markets on which the same most often appear, and the problem of their detection and proving. Then it provides the overview on key players of the cartel case in the Union, companies E.ON and GDF Suez, their secret agreements and binding decisions. Finally, it presents the penalizing of these companies by the European Commission and reaction of cartel members to such a verdict.
