Sažetak
Lobarion alliance is the climax community of epiphytes on the trunks of the big old trees. It is important indicator of the forests quality as well as air pollution. In this paper, distribution of some members of the alliance is presented as found in the literature and fieldwork that was conducted since 1990's. for this paper, following lichens were considered: Lobaria pulmonaria, L. amplissima, L. linita, L. virens, L. scrobiculata, Degelia plumbea, Fuscopannaria ignobilis, Pannaria conoplea, Normandina pulchella and Parmeliella triptophylla. In Croatia, Lobarion is mostly found in Dinaric karst region and in some coastal parts, while they are rare in Panonian part as the precipitation is lower than 1000mm required for its development. It was noticed that Lobarion alliance lichens have disappeared from some locations due to wood cutting and air pollution which is directly and indirectly influencing their disappearance. Possible factor for disappearance from coastal parts of Croatia also includes forest fires, number of which increased in past years. Regardless, unlike in many parts of Europe, these Lobarion is still quite well preserved in Croatia, but needs close monitoring and protection of some old forests in natural state to keep the biodiversity.
