Sažetak
Polycarboxylic acids in combination with the catalyst sodium hypophosphite monohydrate (SHP) are environmentally sustainable binders that are used to impart durable press properties to cotton fabrics. In this study, one of the polycarboxylic acid crosslinking agents, citric acid (CA), is used to treat cotton fabrics in the presence of zeolite FAU as a catalyst. Cotton fabric samples were padded with a suspension containing zeolite powder in aqueous solution of CA crosslinking agent. Curing of dried padded samples was performed at predetermined curing temperatures and times. Several techniques such as FTIR spectroscopy, thermogravimetry and scanning electron microscopy were used to verify the degree of esterification.
