Sažetak
Usage of different methods developed for transit traffic volume and travel time data acquisition has become regularly utilized within many transportation studies. In this paper a simple, low tech, approach will be described. This approach utilizes digital voice recording devices such as cell phones with regulated time code and operators manually reading the license plates. This method is very cost effective for short time transit volume surveys on medium to small areas such as city centers, green wave corridors, and complex intersections. The purpose of this paper is to introduce this simple and cost effective method to transportation planners as a way of producing quality data in a more efficient and convenient way. Also, some further research in process automation will be presented.
