Sažetak
Opioide peptide Met-enkephalin (MENK) has been proposed to be an immunoregulator in mice exposed to restrain stress in vivo. The mechanisms responsible for that regulationare not known yet. The relative contributionof MENK to lipid peroxidation (LPO) value and to corticosterone concentration (CS) in stressed mice has been studied. The in vivo effect of MENK on stress induced oxidative demage (LPO) in mice liver homogenate and plasma corticosterone was examined. Menk (10mg/bw)significantly increased the LPO and corticosteron value of mice under stress of two hours. The same dose of MENK significantly decreased the level of corticosteron of stressed mice during six hours. We demonstrated that MENK and stress are associated modulators of LPO and corticosterone in vivo , but whether that regulation is intimately involved with corticosterone-enkephalin imbalance remains to be elucidated.
