Sažetak
The aim of present study was to address the question whether the changes in Na+, K+-ATPase activity and the activation of JNK/c-jun axes are implicated in early and/or late responses to electroconvulsive shock (ECS) induced convulsions. Enzyme activity from hippocampal and cortical tissues were determined two hours after single ECS aplication. Moreover, animals were exposed to ECS for three and five consecutive days and two hours after third and/or fifth ECS exposure the activity of Na+, K+-ATPase was determined. Induction of JNK/c-jun axes in rat hippocampus and cortex were determined according to above mentioned time intervals for enzymatic activity measurement. The activity of Na+, K+-ATPase was significantly increased either after single such as after multiple ECS exposure. We also found statistically significant induction in JNK/c-jun axes in all tested groups. It may be concluded that increase in Na+, K+-ATPase such as induction in JNK/c-jun axes are involved in early (two hours) and late (third and fifth day) responses to ECS induced convulsions.
