Sažetak
Platonist philosophy differentiates an inherent diversity in the forms of intelligence by which we access reality - both the reality which intelligence itself is and that to which it refers - and a corresponding diversity in the quality and content of experience. For the Platonists, ontology is not separate from epistemology, because cognition is recognized as the most essential aspect of reality - and it is this integrated view of reality which establishes the perennial appeal and relevancy of Platonic philosophy. Uniting under a single theme a diverse group of internationally renowned experts, not only from the area of Platonic philosophy but also from a wide range of other academic and non-academic professions, the book transcends the boundaries of univocally academic research in philosophy to provide a forum for an international and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and an ongoing dialogue among specialists on Platonism and experts from other areas of scholarship, as well as from the arts and education, concerning pressing issues and problems confronting humanity today. In the present article, the universal scope and relevancy of Platonist philosophy for research in a wide range of fields, from mathematics and the natural sciences to the arts, education and the humanities and social sciences, is considered in connection with the themes discussed by renowned experts at the International Symposium Platonisma and Forms of Intelligence in Hvar 2006.
