Sažetak
As a carburizer in foundries, regular quality petroleum coke is often used. The selection of a carburizer depends upon many factors, the most important of which are the microstructure. This paper investigates the microstructure of commercial petroleum coke with increasing sulphur content as potential carburizing material in iron-carbon alloys. Microstructure was determined by optical microscopy method. Examined coke is revealed a partially lamellar units with some mosaic elements in their microstructure. The results are shown that this petroleum coke and similar microstructure like those can used as carburizer in foundries.
